Viana Do Castelo Portuguese set of four hand-painted and artist signed oval shops dishes. Viana Do Castelo is a port city in the north of Portugal, established in 1774, known for its production of pottery. Each piece of pottery is hand-painted with a unique design and signed by the artist. Viana Do Castelo pottery is lead free and, because of high temperature at which the pottery is fired, stain resistant. In the center of each oval dish is a pattern of large blue flowers and leaves with on a blue stem over a white background. The dish is also trimmed in blue. Each artist signs the back. These are great everyday dish. Wrap with a collection of spices and they are a thoughtful house-warming, wedding and birthday gift. They measure 7 3/4" from edge to edge, 4 3/4" wide from edge to edge, 1 3/4" tall in the exterior, 1 1/4" depth on the interior and have a 1.5 cup capacity to the rim.
