This set belonged to my grandfather, who retired as a rear admiral in the US. Navy. He helped to design the island hopping strategy employed during WWII in the South Pacific & worked closely with General McArthur to help establish a Christian, nonpunitive policy during the Occupation shops of Japan. Among my grandfather's many medals, he received a silver & a bronze star, & although a Protestant, received a Papal Knighthood for his humanitarian work during the Occupation of Japan. In gratitude, the people of Yokosuka erected a bust of him & dedicated a park to him. Until their deaths, the captains of every Japanese ship that made port in San Diego made a duty call on my grandparents. I wish to ensure that the story of my grandparents lives on and hope that by sending some of their jewelry items out into the world the new owners will tell their story to others As often happens with old 14k, which is 58.3% gold, there is some tarnish from the alloy metals. Magnets do NOT attract them.
