This wood originates from tree trunks that have started to fossilize in Irish peat bogs and ranges in age from 2,500 to 5,000 years. Measuring 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" x 5/8" deep, this antique brooch is in a cross shape. Three separate, stacked layers give depth and added beauty to this Mourning Piece. The silver T-bar hinge and C-clasp are secure and help to date this Victorian jewelry piece. Absolutely excellent condition ~ no chips, cracks, or fading.
