The lights & speed can be changed it has 3 different speeds low, medium, & high and has auto shut off feature so it will shut off when it runs out of water. This unit is brand new in the box however the box has been opened as I purchased 2 of these and ended up not using this one i did plug it in though so I know the unit turns on.
