Product code: Handmade 27 shops
This is a mid-century Turkish rug. It is hand knotted with all wool fiber on a cotton warp and weft as are the majority of all oriental rugs. The design is a mixture of floral and geometric elements. The dyes used are not synthetic. It is a country rug not made in a city factory but likely made by one person on a home loom. It has a large central field of stylized botehs bordered a floral then geometric design. The colors are salmon, tan brown, pink, and white and are all muted. This rug is in excellent condition for its age, has no spots worn to the foundation and has no stains. This rug has approximately 210 knots per square shops inch making it a very finely woven rug, a very supple rug made to last a hundred years. Fluctuations in color are due to it being hand-dyed. I have been selling on eBay for 24 years and have 100% feedback under the name Acanthus. Oriental rugs need not be so expensive but be aware of machine made rugs as well as factory made hand-tied rugs using petrochemicals.
