This "Long John Silver" Toby jug features the infamous pirate with the peg leg and parrot in a sitting position on a treasure chest. He holds a dagger in one hand and his crutch in the other. The handle of the jug is a skull and crossbones. The hand painted colors are vivid, not pale like many L. J. Silver's I've seen. Embossed on the base is "Long John Silver / Shorter England". A printed mark reads, "Genuine Staffordshire / Hand Painted / Shorter & Son Ltd./ England". This is the large version of this character jug - height: 9¾ inches. There is allover crazing, otherwise this awesome piece is in excellent condition! Circa 1949. I live in the Tampa Bay area for local delivery.
