Product code: Shops Alfred Meakin The Cup Of Knowledge cup and saucer
Alfred Meakin/ A. Meakin worked together with 5 other English potters to make a cup. His was the only one made out of cream colored clay not English Bone. So it doesn't ring like fine China. He partnered up with Lipton to make a fortune book to go with this cup. I do NOT have the book. The rim is 18kt gold on both pieces. Royal Marigold is the pattern. Lots of companies reused his shops pattern on the inside with the cards but his design was the original. No chips or cracks or crazing. Fun piece for your collection. I liked it because my mom and dad play bridge. Dimensions on last picture. Early 1930's.
