A shops beautiful childhood memory. Approx 116” x 24” h This was my first water color before being acknowledged as a professional artist, and before I began signing my work with my last name. When we arrived to Chicago from Cuba at the age of 12, the hurricane strength winds affecting the palm trees continued to be present in my memory. The beauty and intensity of that recollection gave me ground in a new culture where I had not yet felt grounded. It took 3 years for me to be able to visually express that inner sensation which, when I saw it as a painting, seemed to released my inner feeling of loss of that tropical environment.
