Sterling Brewers Wooden Bottle Crate - From shops the Sterling Brewery in Evansville, Indiana. Excellent condition! Sterling Brewery has a rich history in the beer making industry. The original brewery was built in 1863. Like many others during Prohibition, the company renamed itself Sterling Products Co. They made soft drinks, near beer, and malt extract (which was used by illicit homebrewers). It became Sterling Brewers Inc after Prohibition was over in 1933. The brewery once brewed brands such as Cooks, Champagne Velvet, Drewerys and of course - Sterling Beer. This crate is in very nice condition and has visible and readable graphics/printing on all sides. The reinforced metal corners give it a nice look. Inside the crate is stamp from the manufacturer, General Box Company, Louisville, KY - Marked 8/47. Note the six round holes in the bottom are original and are to allow for draining. Good solid wood, no rot or decay.
