With formal training in Los Angeles and at the Chicago Institute of Art, Parkinson began his career in commercial art working for Universal Studios. Primarily a watercolorist, painter Lee Parkinson found his fine arts training and beloved West calling him back by 1960. With the early influences of Utah artist LeConte Stewart still with him, artist Lee Parkinson committed himself to painting, pursuing oil techniques, and even developing a glazing shops medium for oil paint.
