After a few hours of research, I have determined this to be an original authentic Hubley doorstop. Several articles and reliable doorstop reference materials tell me the following: 1 Hubley did not imprint all of their cast iron pieces with their name and pattern # and if it is imprinted it is more likely a newer piece. 2 John Wright Co., bought all the Hubley doorstop molds in 1948 and imprinted their castings with their name and shops mold /casting # 3 Made between 1920 and 1940 ?? I could not find a specific casting date for this pattern. 4 At one point, Hubley only put paper labels on the backs of their pieces (stickers). 5 Basket is smooth, is a strong indicator it was hand filed. Rough, grainy and grinder marks appear on fakes or reproductions. Purchased from a huge estate in Mississippi filled to the rafters with authentic and antique pieces the owners collected. They owned more Hubley doorstops from the 1920s -1940s that were verified in doorstop reference book.
