An exceptional and unusual antique German salt glazed hand worked stoneware bottle decorated with a stylized design dating from the 19th century. The bottle is of square shape with rounded corners and is more narrow around the neck. The bottle is decorated containing an incised stylized design in tones of brown and green set within a decorative border with a simple linked diamond pattern down the other two sides. It has a corked ceramic glazed matching top, (see photos) The bottle has a natural salt glazed finish and is marked 'Handarbeit' (handmade) to the base and has an incised mold number 65 and a its original sticker that reads WE WE Stadtlohn poterie, (see photos) Height: 9 inches, including corked top Width: approximately 4.5 inches Depth: approximately 4 inches Style Folk Art Materials and Techniques Stoneware, Cork Hand-Crafted Place of Origin Germany Period 1870-1879 Date of Manufacture 1870 Condition Excellent, no shops chips, cracks, missing paint, etc.
