This is a MMA copy from the early 1960s. Truly a great quality casting by Museum of Modern Arts PERIOD 1960s Beautiful bronze reproduction, which is based on an Egyptian sculpture of the Ptolemaic period (332–30 B.C.), is produced from a master mold of the original in the Museum's collection. Cats were first domesticated by the Egyptians in the Middle Kingdom for their mouse-hunting abilities. In Egyptian tomb scenes they frequently appear seated beneath the chairs of their owners or on sporting boats in the Nile marshes, where they flush out birds for their masters. Made of bonded bronze, with 24K shops gold plate detachable earrings. Finish: Hand-patinated to reflect the original finish. -Solid Bonded bronze -Hand patinated Measurements 7” x 5” x 3.5” Excellent vintage condition. Small chip on base edge - see pics.
